Interment: Forest Cemetery with Military Honors by the Harry L. Anderson Post #34 of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2237 and Disabled American Veterans Post #21.

Stanley passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at his home, with family at his side, to join his Heavenly Father and Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in heaven.

Stanley Harold Bruxvoort, the son of Guy and Tena Bouma Bruxvoort, was born in rural New Sharon, Iowa, on April 6, 1931. He attended Johnson Country School, Lacey Consolidated School and graduated from Pella Christian High School in 1948. On June 14, 1951, he married Reuvena Dieleman in Oskaloosa. Stan was inducted into the U.S. Army in January 1952, and served in the 3rd Armored Division at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He was honorably discharged in 1954 and returned to the Eddyville area to begin his farming career. Stan and Reuvena built a new house in Oskaloosa in 1993 and moved to town. He continued farming south of Oskaloosa until 1996.
After retiring from farming, Stan worked for Mahaska Farm Service, a job he thoroughly enjoyed until his health forced him to retire in December 2008. Retirement gave Stan the time to enjoy many volunteer activities including disaster relief with the CRWRC throughout the southeastern U.S., Habitat for Humanity, numerous mission trips to Nicaragua for the Farmer to Farmer program and Work and Witness trips to South Africa, Peru and Zambia.
Stan was a charter member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Oskaloosa, where he served many terms as elder, deacon, Sunday School and catechism teacher. He also served on the Oskaloosa Christian School Board, the Mahaska Farm Service Board for nine years, the Faith Line of the Back to God Hour and was a member of the first ISU County Extension Council in Mahaska County. He was actively involved in the Eddyville Ruritan Club. But the most important thing to Stan was his family. He and Reuvena made numerous trips across the U.S. for family athletic events, graduations, weddings and baptisms of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Stan’s family includes his wife of 58 years, Reuvena, four children, thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. They include a son Keith and wife Bev of Highland, Ind. and their children, Kara, Ryan and Erica (Steve) Dregits; son Mike and wife Linda of Oskaloosa and their children, Lisa (Virgil) Peck and their children, Trenton and Hannah, and Andrew (HaLeigh); daughter Jacki and husband Duane Matter of Lynden, Wash., and their children, Darren (Esther), Frank (Maya), Aaron, Lynae (Garret) Rickman, and Amber; and son Kent and wife Cheri of Fort Worth, Texas and their children, Julie (Kevin) Ramey and their son, Coleman, and Michelle and Kyle.

Stan is survived by brothers: Marvin (Betty) of Pella and Jerry (Shirley) of Oskaloosa; sisters: Sylvia Bruxvoort of Oskaloosa, Mary (Lawrence) Vander Molen of Pella, Joyce (Darrell) Cline of Oskaloosa and Barbara Bruxvoort of Ft. Collins, Colo.; brother-in-law, John Hessing and sister-in-law, Dora Bruxvoort, both of Oskaloosa.
Besides his parents, Stan was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Ann Bruxvoort in infancy and Doris Hessing, and a brother Bernard Bruxvoort.

Memorials may be made in Stanley’s name to the Oskaloosa Christian School or the Farmer to Farmer Program in Nicaragua.
