Hester Lucile Williams went to be with the Lord Sunday afternoon at Southerland Place, Midlothian, Virginia, just short of her 97th birthday. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Charles A. Williams, Jr. who passed away in 1999 and daughter Dr. Helen Holmes, (2005). |
Born to Dr. James and Ruth Wray in Eddyville, Iowa, December 26, 1912, she was a graduate of William Penn College. She is survived by three children: Lynn Jorgensen, (James), Minneapolis, Minnesota; Emily Larson, (Dave), Big Timber, Montana; and John Williams, (Kärin), Midlothian, Virginia; seven grandchildren: Dr. Jeffrey Jorgensen, Houston, Texas; Joshua Jorgensen, San Diego, California; Christopher Larson and Amy Larson, Portland, Oregon; Kimberly Larson, Bozeman, Montana; and Jason Williams and Laura Salapka, Mechanicsville, Virginia; nine great grand-children: Anna, Katherine and Sarah Jorgensen; Isabel and Maeve Larson; Kylie and Owen Williams; and Carter and Evan Salapka; and by her brother Bob Wray of Springfield, Missouri. |
Hester was a loving mother who raised her family and spent all of her married life in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was an active member of First Congregational Church (United Church of Christ) and a past president of a P.E.O. Chapter X. Hester actively supported her husband, Charlie, as he practiced law for 60 years. Since his death, she has lived in retirement communities in Seminole, Florida; Oklahoma City; Oklahoma and Midlothian, Virginia. |
Her family and all those with whom she engaged so affably will miss her dearly. |
