| Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 08, 2009 at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Rev. Robert Dean of the Central United Methodist Church officiating. |
Interment: Cremation will follow the funeral service and her ashes will be buried at a later time at Forest Cemetery. |
Ardeth Gabel passed away Thursday morning at her home in Oskaloosa at the age of 91 years, 11 months, 6 days.

Ardeth Ione Gabel, daughter of Roy and Lulu Ellsworth Jenkins, was born June 27, 1917, in Oskaloosa. She was a 1935 graduate of Oskaloosa High School and then attended Wm. Penn College, the University of Iowa and Des Moines Area Business College. World War II broke out and Ardeth and a friend traveled to Denver, CO, where they worked in an aircraft manufacturing plant. She returned to Oskaloosa in 1945 and April 3, 1946, she was united in marriage to Dayton William David Gabel in Oskaloosa. Ardeth worked in the business office at Family Medical Center for over 30 years processing insurance claims. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Ardeth was an avid reader; she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.

Ardeth’s family includes a son, David Gabel of Marshalltown; three grandchildren: William Gabel of Clemons, IA, Emily Gabel of Cedar Falls, IA and Andy Gabel of Marshalltown, IA and two sisters: Margaret “Eileen” Pemberton of Des Moines, IA and Barbara Woolford of Bella Vista, AR. |
Besides her parents, Ardeth was preceded in death by her husband, Dayton, on July 11, 1982 and an infant sister, Lucille.
