Interment: Following the Funeral Service, Leanora's body will be cremated, as was her wish, her ashes will be buried at Newton Cemetery at a later time.

Leanora passed away early Tuesday morning at Karen Acres Health Care Center in Urbandale, Iowa at the age of 94 years, 3 months and 6 days.

Leanora Clara Bruns, daughter of Lafayette L. and Clara Collins Smelser, was born December 11, 1914 in Oskaloosa. She attended Oskaloosa Schools. She married Frank Stam in Oskaloosa and together they farmed near Beacon, later between Eddyville and Ottumwa, and last of all near Pulaski. They later moved to Barnes City and then to Pella. Leanora and Frank divorced in 1976. She married Lloyd Bruns in 1979; they made their home in Pella where they lived for several years before moving to Newton. Lloyd passed away July 22, 1993. Leanora moved to Karen Acres in 2000. She was a member of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Pella. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, needlepoint, and making and collecting dolls; she also enjoyed baking and her Sunday morning cinnamon rolls will be fondly remembered.

Leanora’s family includes three sons: Larry and Amy Stam of Phoenix, AZ; Carl & Susan Stam of Clive, IA and Cornelius “Neil” Stam of Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren: Christina Ryken, Bradley Ryken, Renee Stam Gilmore, Brian Stam, Joshua Stam and Dominic Stam; and several great grandchildren including: Christian Stam, Julia Stam, Aiden Gilmore, Chelsea Ryken and Timothy Ryken.

Besides her parents and her husband, Leanora was preceded in death by her three brothers: Harland, Amos and Lawrence Smelser and two sisters: Pauline and Evelyn.
