Bette passed away early Saturday morning at Mahaska Hospital in Oksaloosa at the age of 48 years and 4 days. |
Bette Jean Wheeldon, daughter of Floyd and Lauralee Ruth Williams Staley, was born February 17, 1961 in Washington, Iowa. She was a 1979 graduate of Oskaloosa High School and then attended Indian Hills Community College where she studied accounting. She married Greg Wheeldon July 23, 1995 in Des Moines, Iowa. They made their home in University Park. Bette has been employed by Pella Corp for the last 20 years; she recently retired due to ill health. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crafts, especially scrapbooking and making jewelry; she also enjoyed camping, boating, spending time with her family and participating in her daughter’s activities.

Bette’s family included her husband Greg of University Park; her two daughters, Kaila and McKenzie, at home in University Park; her mother, Lauralee Staley of Oskaloosa; brothers: Gary Barcus (Wanda Stegall) of Rolla, MO and Larry (Linda) Barcus of Eldora, IA; sisters: Sandy (Jerry) Baker of Van Meter, IA and Donna (Larry) Logan of Mesa, AZ and several nieces and nephews. |
Her father, Floyd Staley preceded her in death. |
Memorials may be made to the future Mahaska Hospice Serenity House.
