Visitation: Will begin at 11:00 a.m., Friday morning, October 24, 2008 at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel; the family will be at the funeral chapel Friday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., to greet visitors.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Saturday morning, October 25, 2007 at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Pastor Alvern Boetsma of the Good News Chapel officiating.
Interment: Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa with military honors by theHarry L. Anderson Post #34 of the American Legion, the VFW Post #2237 and DAV Post #21.

Bob passed away Tuesday evening at Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa with his family at his bedside at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 30 days.

Robert Douglas Malin, son of Ralph and Inez Virgil Grubb Malin, was born on July 22, 1926 in Barnes City, Iowa. Bob lived in Oskaloosa his entire life and attended Oskaloosa schools. He entered the U.S. Army in 1944 and was discharged in 1946. He returned to Oskaloosa where he married Hazel Bernice Kitzman, September 22, 1946, at the First Christian Church. Bob worked as a truck driver for Hensyl Trucking from 1947 to 1955. He then went to work as a heavy equipment operator for Wells Construction; he worked there until 1975. He worked for Mahaska County Operator from 1975 to 1980, operating a bulldozer. In 1980, the Oskaloosa School System employed him as a custodian; at that time he also did custodial work for J.C. Penney in Oskaloosa. In 1990, he retired from full-time employment. Bob enjoyed match stick construction, assembling remote control airplanes, gardening, collecting antique clocks and repairing and refurbishing them; and watching Nascar racing.

Bob’s family includes his son and daughter-in-law, Gary & Shirley Malin of Oskaloosa; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Wes Moore of Bellevue, WA; his grandchildren: Jayme (Nichole) Malin of Mount Pleasant, IA and Jodi Malin of Oskaloosa; a sister, Colleen Jensen of Clinton, Iowa and two sisters-in-law, Leona and Clara Malin, both of Oskaloosa.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel on May 9, 2008; three brothers: Delbert, Bill, and Klaaren Malin and two sisters: Valene Hughes and Keo Worthington.

Memorials may be made to the future Hospice Serenity House.
