Elaine Margaret Cashatt, daughter of Edward and Essie Ann Simpson McKibben, was born November 20, 1920 in Oskaloosa, IA. She was an Oskaloosa High School graduate and September 29, 1938, she married Roy Cashatt, Sr. in Ottumwa, IA. They made their home in Oskaloosa where Elaine was a homemaker and also sold Avon and Tupperware products. Elaine was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church; as a youngster she played her guitar and was part of the bell choir and as she got older she served in many other church areas. She also attended Coffee Break Bible Study for many years. As a young mother, Elaine served as a den mother for the Cub Scouts; in later years she was active in Tops and the American Cancer Society. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her joy; they have many wonderful memories of summers at grandma’s house and times at Lake Rathbun with grandma. Elaine also enjoyed watching Nascar racing and doing plastic canvas needlework.
