Vickie was at Mahaska Hospital and surrounded by her family when her struggle with cancer came to an end. She was 52 years, 11 months and 5 days of age. |
Victoria Louise Legvold, daughter of Harold and Desiree Partridge Catron, was born Oct. 16, 1955 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a 1973 graduate of Indianola High School. She married Nolan E. Pierson. They made their home in Harvey, where they raised two sons and she worked as a nursing assistant at the V.A. Hospital in Knoxville. Nolan died suddenly in 1987. Vickie returned to school at Indian Hills Community College in 1991, there she received her degree in computer science. She then went to work at C.D.S. Global in Des Moines, where she was a J.C.L. Technician. She continued in that capacity until March 2008, when her health treatments began. Vickie married Lars C. Legvold October 1, 1993 in Oskaloosa and they made their home in Oskaloosa. Vickie loved family get togethers and will be remembered for her wonderful cooking at those occasions. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed antiquing and garage sales, Soduko puzzles and crocheting. One of her most cherished moments in the last six months was her participation in the American Cancer Societies Relay for Life and the fact she was surrounded by her family and friends who also participated in the relay efforts with her.
