Naomi Jean Ellis, daughter of Leland L. and Ethel DeWitt Faulkner, was born January 23, 1932 at the home of her parents in rural Eddyville, Iowa. She was a 1950 graduate of Oskaloosa High School. August 4, 1951, she was united in marriage to Willard M. Ellis. They made their home in Oskaloosa where they raised their three children. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, where she was a member of United Methodist Women, she helped distribute communion and was a nursery attendant. Her church was a very significant part of her life; it was her source of strength and encouragement for life’s struggles and a place of warm & caring friendships. Naomi was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Montezuma and was an active volunteer at Mahaska Health Partnership, where she scheduled the volunteers at the hospital snack bar. As a young mother, she was involved in Scouting and served as a Den Mother for many years. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, baking and canning and freezing food from the garden. She also enjoyed playing Bunco and her reunions with classmates from Garfield and Oskaloosa High School. Her greatest joy was her family and friends; she will be missed by many.
