Eloise passed away Wednesday evening at Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa at the age of 90 years, 4 months and 12 days.

Eloise Thera Shroyer, daughter of Harry Sr. and Mabel Liming Manges, was born April 1, 1918 in Perry, Iowa. Her family moved to Oskaloosa when she was a child. She married Alvin B. Shroyer July 13, 1935 in Knoxville, Iowa. They made their home in Oskaloosa, where Eloise was a homemaker and later worked as a nurse’s aid at the Albia Hospital. Eloise was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Oskaloosa. She assisted her husband in his ministry at the Oskaloosa nursing homes, where she played the piano for hymn singing. She was a devote Christian and enjoyed reading her Bible.

Her family includes her husband, Al Shroyer, Sr.; a daughter and son-in-law, Jeri R. and James E. Lowe of Ft. Collins, CO; two sons and daughters-in-law: Larry and Donna Shroyer of Davenport, IA and Al and Jane Shroyer of Ottumwa, Iowa; a brother and sister-in-law, Bud and Johanna Manges of Pella and two sisters: Rowena Steadham of Pella and Delores Rowley of Anaheim, CA; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Eloise was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Larry B. Shroyer; two brothers: Ed Manges and Harry Manges; a sister-in-law, Jenivee Manges; and two sisters: Margaret Boggs and Violet Van Steenis.
