Visitation: will begin 1:00 p.m., Friday afternoon, March 28, 2008 at Garland-VanArkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel; the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. to greet visitors.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Saturday morning, March 30, 2008 at Garland-VanArkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Rev. John De Boef officiating.
Interment: Woods Cemetery near Lacey, Iowa with Military Honors by the Harry L. Anderson Post # 34 of the American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans Post #21 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2237.

Marvin passed away Tuesday morning at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House at the age of 73 years, 3 months and 5 days.

Marvin Jay Jones, son of John L. and Olive Wilson Jones, was born December 20, 1934 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He attended Oskaloosa schools. He entered the U.S. Navy September 10, 1954 and served until August 14, 1957. He was united in marriage with Beulah Virgie Dickerson May 23, 1959 in Lancaster, MO. When he returned to the Oskaloosa, he drove a truck for various elevators in the area and also worked as a farm hand. He also worked in the oil fields in Oklahoma for several years. He was last employed by Maxwell Tiling in Gibson, Iowa. He was a member of the Hilltop Chapel in What Cheer and a former member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, building model ships, telling jokes, watching movies and spending time with his family.

Marvin’s family includes his wife, Beulah of Pella, IA; his sons and daughters-in-law: Eric & Beverly Jones of Mountain Grove, MO; Doug & Denise Jones of Sigourney, IA; Dwayne & Melinda Jones of New Sharon, IA; James & Susan Jones of Cushing, OK; Jeff & April Jones of Tulsa, OK; Rick & Treca Jones of Pawhuska, OK; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy & Craig Alexander of What Cheer, IA; 22 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and two brothers: Norris & Alberta Jones of Pawhuska, OK and LaVern & Harriet Jones of Marshalltown, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Byron Jones.

A memorial has been established in his name.
